News and UpdatesI will be trying some new things myself, and I will gladly share my experiences and findings with you. This is an ongoing trial and error experiment with me that I hope will aid others on their own journey to becoming statin free, healthier, and lowering their cholesterol, naturally. Here's the breakdown from December 2008: Total Cholesterol = 220 HDL (good) = 40 LDL (bad) = 151 Triglycerides = 144 For me, that was pretty darn good. At that time I was using Red Yeast Rice, and Fish Oil. Here's the breakdown from June 2009: Total Cholesterol = 238 Up 18 HDL (good) = 40 Same LDL (bad) = 173 Up 22 Triglycerides = 125 Down 19 I'm still not too concerned about the slight rises in Total Cholesterol and LDL. Now I am on something entirely new, and in the next few weeks I will explain what it is, and 6 months from now I will find out if it is working. Something else I forgot to mention earlier: Drinking brewed green tea will also aid in your fight against cholesterol. One of my personal favorites is Arizona Green Tea w/ Honey and Ginseng. Okay, I told you I would be trying something new; it is called MOXXOR. You can check it out by clicking on the MOXXOR navigation bar. I've been taking MOXXOR for over a month now. I will have to wait until I am 6 months out to get my blood work done and see if it is helping to control my cholesterol. Wish me luck! Joe Wow, Great News - August 18, 2010I just received my latest cholesterol numbers. Here we go: I have been on Niaspan for the last 6 months. These are the results: Total Cholesterol=234 down 6 HDL (Good) = 41 down 1 LDL (bad) = 170 down 9 Triglycerides = 115 up 20 So, here we are. I believe I now have enough information to solidly say, I know what I need to do to keep my cholesterol in check, and do it without statins. Being on Niaspan has lowered my total cholesterol and also my LDL (bad cholesterol). I am very pleased with the results. However, my triglycerides have gone up by 20. It is very possible that the MOXXOR was lowering my triglycerides. I think I will try to keep the triglycerides in check with Omega-3 Fish Oil. If it doesn't work, I will go back to MOXXOR. Anyway, I am very pleased with Niaspan. I will continue to take it for the next 6 months along with Omega-3 Fish Oil. It's a relief to know that I can keep my cholesterol in check with Niaspan. My Latest Cholesterol Numbers Are InAfter being on MOXXOR for the last 6 months I can honestly say it did not help my cholesterol. These are my new numbers as of December 2009: Total Cholesterol = 240 up 2 HDL (good) = 42 up 2 LDL (bad) = 179 up 6 Triglycerides = 95 down 30 So as you can see, my total cholesterol remains pretty much unchanged, however, my good HDL cholesterol went up 2 points and that's a hard thing to do. I attribute that to regular exercise. Also, my Triglycerides dropped 30 points and my doctor says the Omega 3 in MOXXOR helped with that. He put me on something new called Niaspan, which is an extended release niacin tablet. My doctor says they have reported good results with this in lowering total cholesterol and bad (ldl) cholesterol. Anyway, that's where I'm at right now. I'm sure gonna keep up with the exercise and see where I'm at 6 months from now. I'll keep you posted. New Product - 15 Nov. 2009I see a new product out there called Silk Heart Healthy. Silk is a milk and this one has sterols in it that we spoke of earlier. Make sure it says Heart Healthy on the carton. Breaking News - September 16, 2009I just realized that I no longer have the joint pain I was experiencing in the past. I used to have to rub Icy Hot Gel on my knees before riding my exercise bike. Don't need it anymore and I can only believe it is from the MOXXOR I am taking. Stay tuned for more breaking news........
